Abstract

Fourteen middle class, high school students volunteered to get involved in a educational program about the health risk of smoking tobacco on a regular basis. The rationale behing this activity was to prevent the participants from starting to smoke. Three students dropped out of the program. A five-year follow-up on ten subjects indicated that eight of them never got to consume tobacco, one student smoked five times through out this period, and another one reported to smoke about two or three cigarettes a day.
