Truths about teaching, effects and subjective consequences of teacher’s evaluation in Chile

Abstract

Educational policies have had a significant shift in the lasttwo decades, assuming a business management logic. The changes adopted by the last governments have been directed towards the teaching labour, taking on new work regulations. This article shares theresults of a study of different documents that make up the policy created to strengthen the teaching profession. Using a methodology of discourse analysis, we worked on official texts of the Ministry of Education, political speeches and manuals of various programs, seeking to understand the teacher professionalism model proposed by the documents, the effects of intelligibility of these categories and subjective consequences of politics as a power device.
